3. No built‑in free‑wheel valve (unlike Bauer HMB7‑HV272). If gravity pay‑out / free‑run required, external free‑wheel manifold must be fitted.

Common failure & service notes

1. Case drain back‑pressure over 5 bar

   Symptoms: shaft seal blow‑out, accelerated internal wear, efficiency drop. Critical for Staffa HMB series.

2. Cavitation damage during overrunning load (winch lowering): requires boost‑pressure circuit.

3. Shaft seal leakage: common marine service item; replace full seal kit during overhaul.

4. Shock pressure spikes: use relief valves to limit intermittent pressure below 293 bar.
